This is a lesson that I learned the hard way in my early twenties. I was so busy working to meet a certain status and lifestyle that I was too busy working to enjoy it; thus missing out on that limbo period where crazy “in my twenties” stories are made. Since then I have learned that time is one of the most valuable “things” to have. Time is a currency that no one can really buy more of. When I get to the end of my life, I want to know that I have actually LIVED instead of simply existing.

I first heard it while reading her book, The Happiness Project, which is an account of the year she spent test-driving the wisdom of the ages, the current scientific studies, and the lessons from popular culture about how to be happier. We are only one month and four days into the new year and I have heard several people say they need a do over. A good friend of mine even messaged me to let me know that she was planning on celebrating the New Year AGAIN as sort of a mental refresh. I came across this and it gave me the refresh I needed to help me tweak my outlook on this strange year, thus far. I am thankful to see a new year and a new day and I am going to live the life I always imagined. That may mean making some changes, but I will have a positive, prosperous, and productive 2014 and I wish you the same.
